Gosh, it has been a while since I’ve posted an entry in the Revisiting Doctor Who series. My intention when I started it was to track my experience of watching all of the episodes of the revived series with my young son, “The Lad”, who was five years old at the time and is now seven. Having been a lifelong fan of the Classic series myself, I’d already watched Series 1-4 on the tellybox, but I downloaded it from iTunes to watch with the Lad. The division of Series 7 into two parts, their broadcasts separated by months spanning 2012 and 2013 (and bisected by a Christmas Special), was a clever scheduling strategy but had deeply irritating consequences for Revisiting Doctor Who. My original plan was to download Doctor Who Series 7 from iTunes when it became available as one “box set”, instead of in three bits. I mean, buying them as currently available is quite expensive! But I understand that a single box set of Series 7 won’t be available until the end of October, and I want time to watch it with the Lad before the 50th Anniversary Special in November. So I bit the bullet and downloaded series 7 as currently available: Part 1, the 2012 Christmas Special, and Part 2. I’m a sucker.
So, Witterlog has been quiet lately (as have both Gibberlog and Blatherlog). What can I say, life has a tendency to get in the way of one’s hobbies! I apologise to the few of you who care and I’ll make an effort to get back into the swing of things soon. But what better way to break the drought than to announce the identity of the actor lined up to play the twelfth incarnation of everyone’s favourite Time Lord! Continue reading
