Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: how scientifically plausible is it?

The answer, surprisingly, is quite scientifically accurate!

Hail Caesar! But who’s the screen king of the Planet of the Apes?

The new Apes movies are superb, and the combo of Andy Serkis’ unique talents and high-quality CGI is incredibly powerful. But for me the sentimental choice will always be Roddy McDowall, one of the most underrated actors of his generation (but much loved in Hollywood circles). The empathy and emotional range he conveyed through his heavy makeup were and still are impressive.

The Guardian gives the flick 4-out-of-5-star review, as does The Telegraph.

Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction – ‘spectacular junk’

An oddly favourable review of Michael Bay’s latest installment in the Transformers movie franchise. I can take or leave them myself, finding them so loud and frenetic I can barely follow the action, but it is nice to see a mainstream reviewer who understands the point of popcorn flicks. Hell, he goes on to say he liked Pacific Rim and the latest Godzilla as well. Wake me up.
